meet dan

  From the Chicago area, Dan was  shooting 8mm movies with his dad's Bell & Howell camera at an early age. He improvised movie lights, made model spacecraft and filmed clay monsters in his basement “studio.” Dan earned his BA in Cinema at Southern Illinois University and soon moved south to join Atlanta’s booming film industry.  

 A stint at PS-A provided an invaluable post-graduate education, and Dan was soon recruited by a visiting motion picture company and his lighting and grip experience led to more and more work in every facet of production. He teamed up with Gaffer Don Cely, and they became known as the Don & Dan Show, a perfect duo for their many repeat clients.   

  Next, Dan bought his first Grip Truck, building a complete 3-ton Grip & Lighting Package. Danny Boy Services now became one of the best equipment suppliers in the area. By 1996 he had acquired HMI's, dollies, generators and could accommodate nearly any project including some independent movies.  

In 1999, Danny Boy Services was in high demand with producers as far away as Belgium. When Don Cely moved on to other opportunities, Dan assumed the mantle of Gaffer with his talented friend Gray Saunders nearly always at his side.
